Early Life
Born Andrew Michael Milonakis on January 30, 1976, in Katonah, New York, Andy was raised in Queens by Greek-American parents, alongside an older sister. Due to a growth hormone deficiency, he maintains an appearance and voice similar to that of a teenager. During his time at John Jay High School, he used humor as a way to counteract bullying, stating that “humor is a great defense mechanism.” He holds a degree in computer engineering and worked in tech support at an accounting firm until he was let go after his “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” appearances resulted in him spending less time at work. While employed, Andy also pursued classes at the famed Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, partaking in improv and stand-up during his spare time.
Career
On January 26, 2003, Milonakis chose to stay home instead of attending a friend’s Super Bowl party, opting instead to record the now-famous video titled “The Super Bowl Is Gay.” Two weeks after posting it on AngryNakedPat.com, the video went viral. A writer from “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” discovered the clip and promptly contacted Andy, leading to Kimmel showcasing the video on his show, declaring, “The kid is going to be a star.” The following evening, Kimmel aired another of Milonakis’s videos, propelling him to make numerous man-on-the-street appearances across the nation. He saved the earnings from his “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” gigs and subsequently relocated to Los Angeles.

Upon arriving in L.A., Milonakis collaborated with Kimmel on a pilot concept, which they presented to MTV. This led to the creation of “The Andy Milonakis Show,” premiering on MTV on June 26, 2005, before shifting to MTV2 for its second and third seasons. The show featured 22 episodes and was eventually cancelled in May 2007, having received a Teen Choice Award nomination for Choice Summer Series in 2005.
