What is Jadakiss’ Net Worth?

Jadakiss, an American rapper, possesses a net worth estimated at $6 million. As a member of The Lox and the hip-hop collective Ruff Ryders, he is also one of the three owners of the D-Block Records label. Over his career, he has released six solo studio albums and four albums with The Lox, in addition to launching a multimedia content platform named SoRaspy alongside his friend Jay Jackson. He received a Grammy nomination in 2005 for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Why” (featuring Anthony Hamilton). Additionally, he was nominated for Best Female Video at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan in 2003, sharing the nomination for “Jenny from the Block” with Jennifer Lopez and Styles P. The track “Why” reached notable positions on various charts in 2004, including #11 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on the Hot Rap Songs, and #4 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. In 2014, Jadakiss partnered with Styles P to open the Juices For Life juice bar in Yonkers, New York, subsequently expanding to locations in Brooklyn and The Bronx.

Early Life

Born Jason Terrance Phillips on May 27, 1975, in Yonkers, New York, Jadakiss developed an interest in hip-hop music early in life. When he turned 12, his parents encouraged him to start earning money, prompting him to sell drugs initially. However, after witnessing freestyle rapping on the streets, he opted to pursue that path, leading to friendships and collaborations with Styles P and Sheek Louch, who would play significant roles in his life.

Career

At the age of 12, Jadakiss participated in a freestyle competition in Florida, catching the eye of Ruff Ryders Entertainment. He co-founded the rap group The Warlocks with Styles P and Sheek Louch. After they met Mary J. Blige, she passed their demo to Puff Daddy, which led to their signing with Bad Boy Entertainment, where they subsequently changed their name to The Lox. The group made an appearance on The Main Source’s “Fuck What You Think” LP in 1994, contributing the track “Set it Off.” Following that, The Lox collaborated on various tracks with Bad Boy artists, including Mariah Carey’s “Honey,” Puff Daddy’s “It’s All About the Benjamins,” The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Last Day,” and Mary J. Blige’s “Can’t Get You Off My Mind.” They achieved their first hit with the Notorious B.I.G. tribute “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa,” which was included as the B-side on Puff Daddy’s “I’ll Be Missing You” single. The Lox debuted their first studio album, “Money, Power & Respect,” on January 13, 1998, which became a Platinum album, peaking at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. After parting ways with Bad Boy Records, they signed with Ruff Ryders Entertainment, subsequently releasing another Platinum album, “We Are the Streets,” in 2000.

In August 2001, Jadakiss released his inaugural solo album, “Kiss Tha Game Goodbye,” which achieved Gold certification and included popular singles like “We Gonna Make It,” “Knock Yourself Out,” and “Put Ya Hands Up.” His second album, “Kiss of Death,” released in 2004, also received a Gold certification, topping the Billboard 200, and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts. The single “Why” (featuring Anthony Hamilton) became a hit, sparking controversy with the lyric addressing 9/11: “Why did Bush knock down the towers?” In 2007, Jadakiss signed with Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records, releasing “The Last Kiss” two years later, which reached #1 on both the Top Rap Albums and Top R&B/Hip-Hop charts.

Albums charts reveal that he departed from the label in 2010 and subsequently dropped the mixtape “Consignment” in 2012, which was followed by his album “Top 5 Dead or Alive” in 2015. Just like his previous two albums, “Top 5 Dead or Alive” also reached #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums charts. The Lox released “Filthy America…It’s Beautiful” in 2016, marking their first album since 2000. The next year, Jadakiss collaborated with Fabolous on the album titled “Friday on Elm Street.” In 2020, his sixth solo album, “Ignatius,” was released, alongside The Lox’ album “Living Off Xperience.”

Personal Life

Jadakiss is a father to son Jae’Won, daughter Jaidyon, and twins Josh and Jamir. He had a prior relationship with Winter Ramos, known for her role in the VH1 reality series “Love & Hip Hop.” In July 2004, he was pulled over in North Carolina after a passenger tossed firecrackers out of the SUV window. Law enforcement discovered marijuana and two .45-caliber firearms inside the car, leading to citations for Jadakiss for weapon concealment and marijuana possession. A couple of years later, in 2006, he was in a car with four other men in Yonkers at 5 a.m. when police stopped them due to suspicious behavior from the driver. Officers located a loaded gun reported stolen, and all occupants were arrested on charges of possession of a stolen firearm. Jadakiss also had a small quantity of marijuana at that moment, resulting in additional possession charges. In 2009, police conducted a raid on his Yonkers apartment, arresting two men on drug-related charges after seizing marijuana and heroin. At the time of this incident, Jadakiss was on tour and stated he was uninvolved.

In 2004, a feud erupted between Jadakiss and 50 Cent after he featured on a Ja Rule track that disrespected 50 Cent. In response, 50 Cent targeted everyone associated with that song in his track “Piggy Bank.” Jadakiss retaliated with several diss tracks, including “Problem Child” and “Checkmate,” and subsequently challenged 50 Cent to a battle for $1 million at Madison Square Garden, which 50 Cent declined. Eventually, the two reconciled, and in October 2009, Jadakiss performed at 50 Cent’s ThisIs50 Festival. In 2019, it came to light that Jadakiss enjoys ordering a crust-only pizza as it was his favorite part during his childhood, and he mentioned, “my bucket list was always to go into the pizza shop and try to just order crust.”
