Kathy Hilton is a fashion designer, philanthropist and American actress with a net worth of $350 million. Along with her husband Rick Hilton since 1979, they share a combined wealth. Rick and Kathy Hilton are widely recognized as the parents of Paris Hilton and Nicky Hilton.

Her Early Life

Kathy Hilton was born Kathleen Elizabeth Avanzino on March 13, 1959, in New York City. Her mother Kathleen Mary and Laurance K. Avanzino were her parents. Her paternal grandfather was of Italian descent, and Kathy has Irish and Scottish roots as well. After her parents’ divorce, her mother married Kenneth E. Richards, who had three grown kids from a previous marriage. Later, Kathy’s mother gave birth to her half-sisters, Kim and Kyle Richards, who are actresses. She also has five half-siblings from her father’s remarriage. Kathy attended a private high school in Los Angeles, where she became close friends with Michael Jackson and remained so until his passing in 2009.

Her career began in childhood, even before meeting her future spouse, Richard Hilton, an heir of Hilton Hotels. She started acting at the age of 9, appearing in TV series like “Bewitched,” “The Rockford Files,” “Nanny and the Professor,” “Happy Days,” and “Family Affair.” She also appeared in films such as “The Dark” and “On the Air Live with Captain Midnight.” At the age of 15, she met Richard Hilton, around the time when she stopped acting. After marrying into the Hilton family, Kathy revisited her entertainment roots. She commenced hosting on the home-shopping network QVC in 2002, and three years later, she hosted the reality show “I Want to Be a Hilton” on NBC. Subsequently, she began selling skincare products on the rival home-shopping network HSN. In 2008, she made a cameo as herself on the soap opera “The Young and the Restless.” In 2011, she featured on “The World According to Paris.” Kathy’s half-sisters, Kim and Kyle Richards, are both part of the Bravo reality series “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” In 2012, Kathy mentioned that watching her sisters on the show caused her to break down and cry, so she refused to view it. She made sporadic appearances in the show’s early seasons and started appearing regularly in season 11. In June 2023, Kathy announced her departure from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Since 2012, she has designed the Kathy Hilton Collection of party dresses, available in four hundred stores worldwide, including Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Nordstrom. In December 2020, Kathy, along with her daughters Paris and Nicky, modeled the new Valentino 2021 resort collection for “Vogue” magazine.

Her Personal Life

Living in Bel Air, Kathy and her spouse Richard Hilton have four grown kids: daughters Paris and Nicky, and sons Barron and Conrad. Their grandchildren total seven, with three from daughter Nicky and her spouse James Rothschild, two from Paris, and two from Barron. The couple’s residence is in Bel Air, Los Angeles.

Known for her charitable endeavors, in 2007, she raised funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation by organizing auctions where celebrities would sell their belongings, donating the proceeds to the foundation. In 2011, along with her daughters, she was bestowed an award by the Starlight Children’s Foundation at its “A Stellar Night” gala in Los Angeles.

Her Personal Real Estate

In 1999, Rick and Kathy Hilton bought a sprawling 7-bedroom, 3-acre property in Water Mill, New York’s Hamptons town for $3.385 million. Over the years, they have rented out this property in the summer for prices ranging from $300,000 to $400,000. In February 2024, they put up their Hamptons mansion for sale for just under $15 million.

In 2014, they acquired a $2.5 million apartment at New York City’s Pierre Hotel. In 2015, they purchased a large mansion in Bel-Air for $9.2 million, where they demolished the existing structure. They listed this property for sale for $55 million in September 2021 and finally accepted $25 million in January 2024. The buyer, Zong Qinghou, is one of the wealthiest individuals in China.
