Meek Mill’s Net Worth: What You Should Know

With an estimated net worth of $20 million, Meek Mill stands out as an American rapper, songwriter, and activist, making waves in today’s music industry. His rise to fame began with his mixtapes, particularly the “Flamerz” series, which caught the attention of the underground hip-hop community and led him to sign with Grand Hustle Records, mentored by T.I. In 2011, he became part of Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group (MMG). His debut studio album, “Dreams and Nightmares,” was released a year later and debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart. It featured the hit single “Amen,” illustrating his dynamic style. Meek’s discography continued to shine with successful albums like “Dreams Worth More Than Money” (2015), “Wins & Losses” (2017), “Championships” (2018), and “Expensive Pain” (2021), resulting in collaborations with notable artists such as Drake, Jay-Z, and Cardi B.

Beyond his musical endeavors, Meek Mill has navigated numerous legal challenges throughout his life, primarily concerning probation violations from a conviction in 2008. These experiences have sparked a passion for criminal justice reform, leading him to co-found the REFORM Alliance in 2019 alongside entrepreneur Michael Rubin, rapper Jay-Z, and others, with the goal of transforming probation and parole practices across the United States.

Meek Mill’s Early Life

Born Robert Rahmeek Williams on May 6, 1987, in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Meek Mill faced adversity early in life; his father was murdered during a robbery attempt when he was merely five years old. After her husband’s passing, Meek’s mother, Kathy, worked multiple jobs to support their family, even resorting to shoplifting at times.

During his childhood, Meek was quite reserved. His uncle, DJ Grandmaster Nell, was a pivotal figure in the late 1980s Philadelphia hip-hop scene and served as an inspiration to famous artists like Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff.

As a teenager, he began participating in rap battles under the moniker Meek Millz, forming the rap group The Bloodhoundz alongside three friends. At 18, Meek was arrested for possessing a firearm illegally when police approached him while he was heading to a corner store. Following a brutal altercation with the police that left him with visible injuries, he was subsequently placed on probation.

Meek Mill’s Career Journey

Meek kicked off his career with mixtapes in the mid-2000s, gaining recognition with “Flamerz” in 2007. This mixtape, along with its sequel “Flamerz 2 – Hottest in the City,” drew the attention of both T.I.’s Grand Hustle Records and Warner Brothers Records. However, just before he could make a decision on a label, he was arrested and spent seven months imprisoned. Upon his release, he signed with Rick Ross’ Warner Brothers Music label, Maybach Music Group. His debut studio album, “Dreams and Nightmares,” was launched in 2012 and soared to the top of the U.S. Rap and Hip-Hop R&B charts as well as the Billboard 200 chart. His second album, “Dreams Worth More Than Money,” released in 2015, also achieved number one status on all three charts.

His third album, “Wins and Losses,” released in 2017, climbed to number 2 on the Rap and Hip Hop/R&B charts.

In 2018, the album “Championships” from Mill made its debut at the top of the US Billboard 200. His fifth studio album, “Expensive Pain,” released in October 2021, entered the Billboard 200 at number three, but its sales were significantly lower than those of his prior album, which he attributed to Atlantic Records.

In October 2012, Meek declared the establishment of his own label, Dream Chasers Records, named after his series of mixtapes.

In 2008, Meek received a sentence of 11-23 months in prison along with eight years of probation due to charges of drug dealing and gun possession.

In late 2012, he breached his probation, leading to a judge revoking his travel permit. During the spring of 2013, he again violated probation by failing to notify the court about his travel plans and making social media posts that resulted in threats against his probation officer, which prompted the court to mandate etiquette classes.

In December 2017, he contravened his parole yet again, and the judge did not allow him another opportunity. He was instructed to cease his work activities pending his sentencing. In February 2016, he faced a 90-day house arrest sentence.

On March 11, 2017, Meek Mill was arrested after assaulting two pedestrians in St. Louis. He received a state prison sentence of two to four years for violating his parole, serving five months at the State Correctional Institution in Chester, Pennsylvania.

A documentary series titled “Free Meek” premiered in August 2019, detailing his multiple interactions with the criminal justice system, with Meek serving as the executive producer.

Personal Life

In early 2015, Meek Mill began a relationship with rapper Nicki Minaj, serving as the opening act for her world tour that year. Their two-year relationship ended in January 2017.

On his 33rd birthday in 2020, Meek Mill welcomed his third child, born to his then-girlfriend, Milan Rouge.

Following his release from state custody in 2018, Mill joined Jay-Z in founding the REFORM Alliance Foundation. This nonprofit aims to reform the criminal justice system by advocating for changes in laws and policies, with a focus on probation and parole.
