What is Orlando Bloom’s Net Worth and Salary?

An English actor, Orlando Bloom, has amassed a net worth of $40 million. His rise to fame was quite extraordinary. While attending the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, he auditioned for a role that would make him a household name, securing it just two days post-graduation. This role, as Legolas from “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, launched him into instant stardom and led to major parts in the successful “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise along with various other notable films such as “Troy,” “Kingdom of Heaven,” “Elizabethtown,” “Love and Other Disasters,” “New York, I Love You,” and “The Three Musketeers.” Bloom also reprised his role as Legolas in “The Hobbit” trilogy while featuring in a Broadway production of “Romeo and Juliet.” Besides his film work, he has made appearances on several television shows, won a few acting accolades, and experienced a high-profile marriage to supermodel Miranda Kerr, which ended in divorce, followed by his marriage to Katy Perry. In April 2014, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Early Life

Born on January 13, 1977, in Canterbury, Kent, Orlando Jonathan Blanchard Copeland Bloom’s mother, Sonia Constance Josephine (née Copeland), originated from India, with her family having lived in both Australia and Japan. Until he reached the age of thirteen, Bloom was under the impression that his father was his mom’s husband, the anti-Apartheid South African author Harry Saul Bloom, who sadly passed away when Orlando was just four. His mother later revealed that his real biological father was actually Colin Stone, a close family friend and her partner.

He attended St Edmund’s School in Canterbury before relocating to London in 1993 to enroll at Fine Arts College, Hampstead, where he participated in a two-year A-level program that covered Drama, Photography, and Sculpture. Following this, he joined the National Youth Theatre and subsequently received a scholarship at the British American Drama Academy. Bloom’s initial professional acting endeavors included appearances in episodes of “Casualty” and “Midsomer Murders,” along with a role in the film “Wilde” (1997). After these early projects, he went on to study acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

Career

Bloom’s first significant role came just two days following his graduation from Guildhall in 1999. He was cast as Legolas, the elf, in the “The Lord of the Rings” film trilogy (2001-2003), appearing in “The Fellowship of the Ring” (2001), “The Two Towers” (2002), and “The Return of the King” (2003). For three consecutive years, the complete cast of the “Rings” films received a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Best Ensemble Acting Award, ultimately winning this accolade in 2003 for the third installment. During this time, he also had a role in Ridley Scott’s “Black Hawk Down” (2001).

Following the success of this trilogy, Bloom starred as Will Turner in the Disney blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” (2003), alongside Keira Knightley and Johnny Depp. This franchise also proved to be a hit, leading Bloom to star in two additional “Pirates of the Caribbean” films: “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” (2006) and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” (2007). He made a brief supporting return as Will Turner in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” (2017). Thanks to his roles in these hugely popular franchises, Bloom became the most-searched individual on Google News in 2006. By May 2007, he found himself featured in four among the top 15 highest-grossing films ever made (at…

Bloom returned to the universe of “Lord of the Rings” by reprising his legendary role as Legolas in the films “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” (2013) and “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” (2014). These “Hobbit” films serve as prequels to the “Lord of the Rings” series. His notable filmography also includes titles such as the historical war drama “Troy” (2004), featuring a star-studded cast including Brad Pitt, Eric Bana, and Peter O’Toole; “Kingdom of Heaven” (2005), directed by Ridley Scott; alongside Kirsten Dunst in “Elizabethtown” (2005); the anthology film “New York, I Love You” (2009), which is composed of 12 interconnected short stories; the romantic adventure “The Three Musketeers” (2011); “Zulu” (2013); “Unlocked” (2017); and “Romans” (2017). More recently, he has appeared in “The Outpost” (2021), “Needle in a Timestack” (2021), and “Gran Turismo” (2023).

Initially, Bloom aspired to be a professional stage actor following his graduation. Therefore, along with his numerous celebrated films, he has also maintained a presence in theater. In 2007, he joined the cast of a London revival of “In Celebration,” penned by David Storey. His Broadway debut occurred in 2013 when he portrayed Romeo in “Romeo and Juliet” at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, subsequently starring in the 2018 Trafalgar Studios production of “Killer Joe.”

Bloom has participated in various television projects as well. In 2006, he made a guest appearance on the sitcom “Extras” as a dramatized and self-centered version of himself. Furthermore, he has featured in “LA Phil Live” (2011), “Easy” (2016), and “Carnival Row” (2019). In 2021, he lent his voice to Prince Harry in the animated series “The Prince” and was involved in “CBeebies Bedtime Story.”

Other Work

In 2002, Bloom appeared alongside actress Kate Beckinsale in a Gap television advertisement. He later featured in a commercial on Japanese late-night television in 2007, promoting Shiseido, a cosmetics brand. In 2009, he was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and has since worked with the organization to highlight the educational crisis affecting children in Ukraine amidst the ongoing military conflict with Russia.

Personal Life

Between 2003 and 2006, Bloom was involved in an on-and-off relationship with American actress Kate Bosworth. Late in 2007, he began dating Australian model Miranda Kerr, marrying her in 2010. They welcomed a son in January 2011. However, Bloom and Kerr announced their split in October 2013, finalizing their divorce by year’s end. He started dating American singer Katy Perry in January 2016, though they separated in February 2017. Nevertheless, the couple reconciled in April 2018 and got engaged on February 14, 2019, with Bloom reportedly gifting Perry a ring valued at $5 million. On March 5, 2020, Perry revealed that they were expecting their first child.

In the music video for her single “Never Worn White,” they are seen together. In August, she welcomed their daughter.

Real Estate

Orlando put his Beverly Hills mansion on the market for $9 million in March 2019. He purchased the property in 2017 for $7 million.

In October 2020, Katy and Orlando acquired a 9-acre estate in Montecito, California for $14.2 million. A video tour is available here:

The residence has become the subject of a lawsuit initiated by Carl Westcott, the former owner who sold the place to Bloom and Perry via their business manager, Bernie Gudvi. Attorneys for Westcott claim he was not mentally fit at the time of the sale and had no actual intention to sell the home. Westcott was affected by Huntington’s Disease and was also heavily medicated before undergoing a lumbar spinal fusion procedure.
