What is Phil Robertson’s Net Worth?

With a net worth of $10 million, Phil Robertson is known as an American businessman, hunting enthusiast, and reality TV star. He serves as the patriarch of the Robertson family, who own a multi-million dollar hunting accessory enterprise named Duck Commander. His fame primarily comes from the hit TV series “Duck Dynasty,” and he appears on the hunting show “Duck Commander” aired on the Outdoor Channel.

Early Life

Born Phil Alexander Robinson on April 24, 1946, in Vivian, Louisiana, he was raised in a large family of seven children with scarce resources. His childhood home lacked electricity, a toilet, or a bathtub, and the family seldom bought groceries in town. Instead, they relied on the deer, fish, and squirrels they hunted, along with the vegetables and fruit they cultivated. In his memoir “Happy, Happy, Happy,” he reflects on their lifestyle, saying that even though it was the 1950s, they lived as if it were the 1850s, asserting, “… but we were always happy, happy, happy, no matter the circumstances.”

During high school, Robertson excelled as an athlete, participating in football, baseball, and track. He earned a football scholarship to Louisiana Tech University, where he played as the first-string quarterback while Terry Bradshaw served as the second-string quarterback. Bradshaw later became the first overall pick in the 1970 NFL Draft. Robertson was the starting quarterback during 1966 and 1967 but chose not to play in 1968, leading to Bradshaw taking the position. Although Paul Harvey offered him a chance to play for the Washington Redskins, Robertson declined, prioritizing hunting over a professional football career. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s degree in education from Louisiana Tech.

Career

Following his college years, Robertson began his career as a teacher before transitioning to commercial fishing. An avid duck hunter, he grew dissatisfied with the duck calls available at the time, prompting him to create his own. In 1972, he invented the first Duck Commander call, securing a patent and establishing the Duck Commander Company in 1973. This enterprise has now evolved into a multi-million dollar business run by Phil’s son, Willie Robertson. Robertson and his family became part of the A&E reality series “Duck Dynasty,” which aired from 2012 to 2017.

Currently, Phil operates the business with his wife Kay and their four sons. His memoir, “Happy, Happy, Happy,” became a #1 bestseller, with nearly one million copies sold to date. Before their reality show gained success, approximately 60,000 Duck Commander calls were sold annually by Robertson’s company. In 2012, that number skyrocketed to 600,000. During the annual 10-week duck hunting season, Phil maintains a tradition of refraining from showering or shaving to attract good luck.

On December 18, 2013, Phil found himself amidst controversy following a provocative…An interview with GQ magazine was recently made public. During this interview, Phil’s comments were interpreted as homophobic. Phil quickly offered an apology, emphasizing his love and respect for all kinds of people in the world. Consequently, A&E had no choice but to suspend Phil from the show indefinitely. However, by “indefinitely,” they seemed to mean approximately one week, as A&E announced on December 28th, 2013, that they were lifting the suspension after receiving numerous complaints from fans of the show.

Personal Life

In 1964, Robertson began dating Marsha “Kay” Carroway while they were still in high school, and they tied the knot in 1966. Their first son, Alan Robertson, was born while they were still pursuing their college degrees. The couple later welcomed three more sons: Jase, Willie, and Jep.

As a devout Christian, Robertson serves as an elder at the White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ located in West Monroe, Louisiana. He openly shares his beliefs, notably in Steve Bannon’s 2012 documentary “Torchbearer.” In this film, Robertson articulates his views on the absurdity of life without God.

Throughout his 20s, Robertson faced numerous challenges, including a drinking problem that strained his early marriage. He attributes his ability to overcome his alcohol issues to a significant religious awakening.

Robertson stands firmly against abortion, considering it a breach of the Declaration of Independence, and regularly discusses this topic during public engagements.

In 2015, he received the Breitbart Defender of the First Amendment Award. During a speech at CPAC that lasted half an hour, Robertson controversially suggested that STDs are linked to Nazis, Communists, beatniks, and hippies.

On May 28, 2020, it was revealed that Phil had discovered he has a daughter named Phyllis, from an affair he had in the 1970s. They met for the first time in February 2020, and Phil’s initial reaction was, “I had no idea.” Phyllis later shared with The Blaze in July 2020: “I told him those were the best words he could have spoken to me. You see, if he’d known about me and never found me, I would have been devastated. Those words allowed me to offer grace and compassion. I could see in his eyes the emotions of shock, disappointment, and even embarrassment. He had no idea.” Phil described himself to The Blaze as a “broken mess” 45 years ago, stating, “God is continuing to restore me. He has brought me to my long-lost daughter, and I love her.”

Real Estate

Although Phil and his wife are multi-millionaires, they still reside in the same double-wide mobile home in Louisiana that they have shared throughout their entire marriage.
