Sting’s Net Worth: What Is It?
Sting, an American professional wrestler and former bodybuilder, boasts a net worth of $4 million. He gained fame and financial success as a 14-time world heavyweight champion and is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling, although his most notable tenure was with WCW. He is often celebrated as one of the greatest professional wrestlers in history.
Early Life
Born Steve Borden on March 20, 1959, in Omaha, Nebraska, Sting grew up in Southern California. In high school, he participated in basketball and football before shifting his focus to bodybuilding. At one point, Borden owned a Gold’s Gym health club. His interest in professional wrestling sparked after attending a WWF event in Los Angeles, where he witnessed stars like Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, The Iron Sheik, and The British Bulldogs.
Wrestling Career
Borden, before achieving iconic status, was part of Team USA (which included Ultimate Warrior) in the Memphis-based Continental Wrestling Association, initially wrestling under the name Flash. The team later transformed into The Blade Runner before moving to the Universal Wrestling Federation. Adopting the name Sting, Borden gained attention after facing Ric Flair at the Clash of Champions in the late 1980s, soon claiming his first NWA title. By the 1990s, he emerged as the “face of WCW.”
Sting’s accolades include two NWA World Heavyweight Championship wins (the latter in TNA), six WCW World Heavyweight Championships, two WCW International World Heavyweight Championships, four TNA World Heavyweight Championships, and one WWA World Heavyweight Championship—making him the only individual to hold all titles throughout his career. Additionally, he has secured various other titles, such as the NWA World Television Championship, two WCW International World Heavyweight Championships, two WCW United States Heavyweight Championships, three WCW World Tag Team Championships (with partners Lex Luger, The Giant, and Kevin Nash), the TNA World Tag Team Championship alongside Kurt Angle, and many others.
After maintaining loyalty to WCW and hesitating to join WWE due to concerns over how the organization used former WCW stars, Sting eventually wrestled for WWE. However, he sustained a neck injury during his only WWE pay-per-view match against Seth Rollins. He announced his retirement after headlining the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2016.
