What Is Zayn Malik’s Net Worth?

With a net worth of $75 million, Zayn Malik is a British musician widely recognized for his role in the renowned boy band One Direction. He has also carved out a very successful solo career.

Early Life

Zayn Malik, born Zain Javadd Malik on January 12, 1993, hails from Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. He is the offspring of Yaser and Tricia Malik and was raised in East Bowling. A graduate of Tong High School in Bradford, his school years were challenging due to the jokes and unpleasantness he faced because of his mixed Pakistani and Irish/English heritage. While he was raised in an Islamic environment, Zayn has since distanced himself from the faith. He took performing arts courses in his teenage years, participating in several school productions, and began writing raps during high school. Prior to embarking on a music career, he contemplated becoming an English teacher.

One Direction

Zayn decided to audition for “The X Factor” out of curiosity for the experience. As a fan of rap and R&B, he considers Bruno Mars among his favorite musicians. Although he did not advance as a solo contestant, he was grouped with four other artists to create the boy band One Direction. This group has since become one of the most successful acts spawned from a reality show.

Formed in 2010, One Direction has sold over 70 million albums globally. Currently, the band has five studio albums to their credit. They generated $75 million in revenue between June 2013 and June 2014, and saw $130 million from June 2014 to 2015. Their “Where We Are Tour” amassed $282 million, marking the second-highest earnings ever for a vocal group. The band operates under a corporation named 1D Media, established in 2010, which is equally owned by its five members.
